Team Dynamic
You will work alongside a team of smart, curious people working on challenging problems. Within Cloud Engineering, we work closely with the amazing people who comprise our developer teams. As a larger engineering organization, and locally on our team, we are thoughtful about our work and our culture, and we work together to enable each other and our engineering peers to do our best work.

Across Validity’s engineering division our ecosystem is broad but mainly centers around Ruby on Rails and .Net for development, backed by database technologies like MySQL and Postgres running in AWS and increasingly leveraging Aurora. Our Cloud Engineering team primarily uses Bash and Go and drives automation with a toolchain that includes Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.

Position Duties and Responsibilities
  • Improve Terraform/OpenTofu module functionality to better support the needs of other software engineering teams
  • Assist software engineering teams with defining their infrastructure in Terraform/OpenTofu
  • Assist software engineering with deployments to Kubernetes
  • Support software engineering teams with Incident Response
  • Write and improve Packer templates and Ansible roles

  • Implement and monitor observability metrics for services, create and tune alerts that center around SLOs and customer impact
  • Plan and execute major migrations and upgrades
  • Participate in on-call rotation for responding to rare customer-impacting production incidents
Required Experience, Skills, and Education
  • Proficiency with the core AWS platform; IAM, Compute (EC2/ECS/Lambda), Route53, KMS, and S3 in particular.
  • Proficiency at writing Terraform/OpenTofu. Particularly modules and working with the AWS provider. This is a significant part of our day-to-day work and is a core competency.
  • Experience with configuration management tooling.
  • Experience with application deployment, pod networking and auto-scaling in Kubernetes.
  • Intrinsically motivated to stamp out toil. Identifying and eliminating manual, repetitive, non-tactical work that steals time and slows down important projects is a critical aspect of this team’s work.

  • Appreciation for communicating and collaborating asynchronously.
  • Effective communication skills. As a distributed team clear empathetic communication is important both within our team and in our daily work with development teams.
  • A security mindset. You have an intrinsic motivation to ensure the safety and security of the data of our customers and peers.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education
Experience with one or more of these technologies is a plus and will aid you in ramping up quickly, but they are not specifically required.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
